What ProphetX actually is
ProphetX is a sports prediction market. You trade Yes/No event contracts on games with other traders, and the contract settles at $1.00 or $0.00 once the result is official. The CFTC licensed ProphetX to run and clear its own exchange in 2026, which is why it now operates nationwide.
The important part for Texans: this is a federally regulated derivatives venue, not a sportsbook and not a sweepstakes app. That is the same legal footing Kalshi and Polymarket stand on.
No vig, and what that means in practice
Because pricing comes from other traders rather than a house line, ProphetX does not bake a margin into the price you see. Your cost is the commission taken on winning positions plus whatever spread the book is showing.
In plain terms: the same call on the same game can pay you more than a house-priced product would, which is exactly what the platform means by 'same moments, bigger payouts'.
The full commission math is in our ProphetX fees guide.
Sports only — pick your second account carefully
ProphetX lists sports and nothing else. There are no Texas weather contracts, no ERCOT grid markets, no 2026 ballot contracts.
Most Texans who trade beyond sports pair ProphetX with Kalshi for weather and politics, or Polymarket for the deepest political books.
