Why federal licensing settles it
Texas has no legal sportsbooks. What Texas law regulates is wagering — you against a bookmaker. A prediction market is a different animal: you buy a Yes or No contract from another trader on a federally regulated exchange, and it settles at $1.00 or $0.00 on the official result. That's the same legal footing that lets Kalshi and Polymarket operate here.
What makes ProphetX slightly unusual is that it is licensed to both run and clear its own exchange, rather than listing through someone else's. That's a heavier regulatory burden, not a lighter one.
The sweepstakes chapter is over
ProphetX previously ran on a sweepstakes model. That's gone. There are no coins, no promotional currencies and no social-app mechanics — you deposit dollars and trade contracts on a licensed exchange. If you're reading older coverage that describes ProphetX as a sweepstakes product, it's out of date.
What you can and can't trade
Sports only. ProphetX lists NFL, NBA, MLB, college football and other game and player markets. It doesn't list politics, economics, culture or Texas weather — for those Texans use Kalshi's weather book or Polymarket.
