Dallas prediction markets start with a specific question, not just a team name. A Cowboys game, a Rangers division title and a DFW temperature range have different rules, deadlines and settlement sources.
The short answer
- Read the exact question, season, closing time and resolution rules before comparing prices.
- For the standard $1 binary examples below, a winning settlement pays $1 per contract and a losing settlement pays $0. Special settlement provisions can differ.[1]
- Price can be read as a market-implied probability, not a guarantee. Fees and the difference between buy and sell prices affect the result.[1][2]
- Kalshi's individual signup guidance states 18 or older, with identity and eligibility requirements. This is not a universal age rule for other platforms.[3]

Can you trade prediction markets in Dallas?
The CFTC's register lists Kalshi and QCX LLC, doing business as Polymarket US, as designated contract markets.[4] Registration is a fact about the exchange, not a blanket answer to every Texas product or individual eligibility question.
Check the operator's current terms and restrictions for the specific product you want to use. Kalshi places responsibility on users to ensure their access is lawful.[3] Do not assume Polymarket US and an international platform have identical access rules or contracts.

Rangers: Texas and Houston are 78-80 with four games left; Houston owns the tiebreaker.[5] Refresh this snapshot after subsequent games rather than treating it as a live standings feed.
Cowboys: Dallas is 1-1 after a 28-20 loss to the Giants and a 37-20 win over Washington. The official schedule lists Baltimore at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on September 27 at 3:25 p.m. Central, followed by a game at Houston on October 4.[6][7]
Dates and records describe the sports schedule, not the availability or price of an exchange contract.
Rangers prediction markets: payout is not profit
Rangers AL West odds concern a division championship. A playoff-qualification question asks something different. Read the contract's named outcome and source instead of assuming equal win-loss records mean equal chances of settling Yes.
Worked example
Hypothetical price and standard $1 binary settlement. Not a live quote. Fees excluded.
Suppose you buy 20 Yes contracts on "Rangers win the AL West" at 45¢ each.

The $20 payout includes the money paid to enter. It is not $20 of profit. Subtract applicable fees when calculating the net result.[2]
Are Rangers and Astros prices mirror images?
Not automatically. Yes and No on the same binary question are complementary outcomes. Two separately named team contracts require an additional check: do they have identical rules, and are their outcomes mutually exclusive and exhaustive? Do not assume there are no other possible outcomes just because the article focuses on two teams.
Even when outcomes are complementary, the prices available to buy both sides need not total exactly $1 because of the bid-ask spread.[1] A hypothetical 55¢ Astros quote does not establish an executable 45¢ Rangers quote.
Cowboys prediction markets
Cowboys playoff odds and a single-game price answer different questions. Verify the opponent, season, resolution source and handling of ties or cancellations in the actual rules.
For an arithmetic example, suppose 25 Yes contracts on a Cowboys game cost 40¢ each. The purchase costs $10. Under normal $1 binary settlement, Yes pays $25 for $15 profit before fees; No pays $0 and loses the $10 cost, plus any fees. These are invented teaching numbers, not Rio-game odds.
Use the official Cowboys schedule to verify dates. Check current team injury information separately; do not rely on an old article's player status.
Mavericks prediction markets
Dallas announced Dusty May as its new head coach in June 2026.[8]
Season-long questions require particular care. Check whether "make the playoffs" includes or excludes any preliminary qualification stage, and which season the contract covers. A familiar team name does not make an old result a current market.
The team's February announcement ruled Kyrie Irving out for 2025-26 during ACL recovery.[9] That does not establish his availability for a particular future game. Consult fresh team updates before relying on any return-date claim.
For another hypothetical example, 20 Yes contracts priced at 35¢ cost $7. A normal Yes settlement pays $20, producing $13 profit before fees; a No settlement loses $7, plus any fees. A roster change does not by itself answer a season-result question. Read the contract's continuation and cancellation rules.
Stars prediction markets
If a Stars-related contract is listed, identify whether it concerns one game, a playoff series or a season-long outcome. The handling of overtime, shootouts and rescheduled games belongs in the contract rules, not in assumptions based on another sport's market.

DFW weather prediction markets
The settlement source matters as much as the temperature range. A historical Kalshi Dallas high-temperature listing for August 8 references the NWS daily climate report and CLIDFW. The September 24 listing names The Weather Company and Dallas (CLIDFW).[10][11] Do not copy an older contract's source wording into a newer one.
Check the exact location, report, date, temperature measure, rounding and revision policy. A phone forecast or an observation from another station does not replace the source specified in the rules. The NWS Dallas/Fort Worth climatology page is useful background, not an automatic settlement source for every contract.
Worked example: DFW Airport versus Love Field
Hypothetical station readings and bracket, not a forecast or a live market.
Assume a contract explicitly names a DFW Airport report and a winning daily-high range of 97–98°F. If that specified report records 97°F, the range qualifies in this example. A separate 99°F observation at Dallas Love Field would not replace the named report.
Follow the actual contract's handling of missing or corrected data. Some rules include special settlement provisions rather than a simple $1-or-$0 outcome.[10][11]

Is a $20 payout the same as $20 profit? No. In the hypothetical 20-contract example, the $20 payout minus the $9 purchase cost leaves $11 before fees. A losing settlement loses the $9 cost, plus any fees.
